Wedding photography equipment
|
At your wedding you do not want to risk the photography. You cannot do your whole wedding again if the camera fails. Your wedding photographer takes this into acocunt: not only she uses the professional camera models from Canon and the indestructible L-series lenses, but also everything in her equipment has a backup!
At a wedding your photographer always carries two camera bodies with a third spare in her care. The zoomlenses together form a single large zoom range. For each zoomlens, several prime lenses act as the backup.
My equipment at a wedding consists of:
- Canon 5D mark II. The top model for the wedding photographer, 21 Mpixel full frame.
- Canon 5D mark I. The most used camera for wedding photographers.
- Canon 20D. The reserve camera and specifically for tele photos (cropfactor 1.6 making its effective range larger).
- Canon EF-L 24-70 f2.8 lens. The workhorse for the wedding photographer.
- Canon EF-L 70-200 f2.8 IS lens. Incredibly sharp telelens for details from a distance and for formals with very low depth of field.
- Canon EF-L 16-35 f2.8 lens. Wide angle zoomlens with an incredible range. Ideal for small rooms, receptions and group portraits.
- Canon EF 50mm f1.4 lens. Standard lens and the reserve for the 24-70 lens.
Canon EF 100mm f2.8 macro lens. Canon's sharpest lens. Used for details (ring shots, brides bouquet) and backup for the telelens.
- Canon 580EX II flash
- Canon 580 EX flash
- Omnibounce and mini-softbox for the flashes
- Four batteries for each camera
- SANdisk flash cards
- Reflectors
- Epson P2000 multimedia viewer to create on-site copies of the flash cards.
- Bowens Gemini Esprit portable studio flash set with battery pack (for example for indoor locations in winter)
All lenses are fast lenses so also very good for available light photography. The only disadvantage is the total wheight. That is why I always wear a Tenba photographer vest and a Lowepro photographer backpack. |
